What would you like for Father’s Day? “I’d like to catch a 29 ½ inch Walleye please.”

Ralph Domras is one of our seasonal campers here at Oak Haven. On Fathers Day, Ralph, his wife Norma and their grand son Jake Modell were fishing with area Guide Brian Jones on Cass Lake when Ralph hooked into the biggest Walleye of his life. The fish was landed just before noon. Ralph offered high praise for the way Brian quickly measured, photographed and released the fish alive unharmed. This Walleye will soon be a 30 incher that can provide another thrill of a lifetime to someone else.

Here in mid June we are experiencing summer conditions and anglers are having to use their bag of tricks to land a bunch of Walleyes. Large numbers of Perch and Rock Bass are an easy catch and great fun for kids. Our guests are landing Bluegills, Crappies, Pike and Largemouth Bass but most anglers agree the fish are not necessarily where they expected them to be. Water temps are now in the mid 70’s.
