Weather this past week was mostly cool, frequent rains and plenty of east winds.

Lake temperatures on Kakagi (Crow) Lake - low 50s, LOTW Stevens Bay - low 60s & LOTW Whitefish Bay - mid 50s.

Lake Trout - catching some, not many boats spending much time after the Lake Trout.... most Lake Trout are feeding in the 35-55 foot depths and some hungry ones coming from 70-90 foot waters.

Northern Pike - needed to work a little harder for them then usual, but several caught in the lower 30" sizes on Stevens and Whitefish bays.

Bass - several Largemouth in the 2-3.5 pound ranges from Stevens Bay. A few Smallmouth caught on accident. No reports of Smallies on the beds on Kakagi yet... should be soon when the water warms a little more.

Crappie - catching a few stragglers in Stevens Bay, but should be just about done finding many of them shallow until later in the year.

Walleye - Best this week was about 8 pounds - seems to be good mix in sizes being caught.

Lodge project - expecting to be moving the office into the Lodge later half of this week. We have a few things delayed - carpet not here yet and hard to find an available carpenter to finish trim on the 1st floor. 2nd floor will be worked later in the season (after things slow down). Hoping to have most of the exterior finished next week.

Sad note - Mel from Mel's Marine lost his battle to cancer late this past week. Mel did not know he had cancer until about 6 weeks ago... so at least the suffering part was fairly short. Thoughts and prayers for Chris and Candy. Mel will certainly be missed by many.

It was a tough year for Nestor Falls - Paul from the Cottage (Chicken place across from Dalsegs) died in April. The Bakery closed its door for good. Larson's Restaurant closed (cabins still available). Not sure if the Outpost (small restaurant and ice cream shop) will be open. The Hotel, Green's and Monique's Log Cabin are still going strong as places to eat.

Gates Baits did open last fall (across from Log Cabin).

A fairly quite week this week and 100% full next week.

Regards,

Sorry to hear about Mel. He was a perfect example of everything that Nester Falls means to me. Mel, Chris and Candy are always the first faces we see when we arrive. It won't be the same. I am always amazed that no matter how busy, they always have time for a handshake and hello. He was a wonderful person, I will miss him.
