Hi everyone,

As you may or may not know, I have been a member of The National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame for 32 years now. We are lucky to have such a worth while organization here in our back yard. To show my continued support of this shrine to the fresh water angler, I have pledged to donate 3% of my guide fees every year.

This Sunday Sept. 12th the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame will sponsor a kids fish-o-rama to be held at the base of the big Musky from noon to 1pm. Here is an article from the Sawyer County Record

Kids Fish O Rama is this Sunday
Children from pre-school through 12 years of age are invited to fish in the annual Kids Fish-O-Rama from noon to 1 p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 12 at the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward.

This marks the 31st year the Hall of Fame will conduct the popular children’s event.

Participants and their parents or guardians can register starting at 11 a.m. They should bring their own poles and bait. Fishing will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in the Fame Pond at the base of the 140-foot-long, 40-foot-tall fiberglass musky.

Prizes will be awarded for biggest fish and most fish caught, and every child will earn a prize, including rods, reels and tackle boxes. Anglers can keep the fish they catch.

Free hot dogs, chips, ice cream and soft drinks will be served.

Each year, more than 300 bluegills, crappies, bullheads, bass and northern pike are caught in this special event for local and visiting youngsters. The fish were transferred from nearby Lake Hayward into Fame Pond by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources fisheries personnel.

If you are in town this weekend, stop in and enjoy all that the Hall has to offer.

Hi everyone,

Here are the results of the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame kids fishorama as reported by the Sawyer County Record

Hayward Lakes Area Outdoor Notebook
by Steve Suman
Sunny, warm weather spurred on young anglers at the annual Kids Fish-O-Rama at the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward on Sunday, Sept. 12.

More than 200 fish were caught, mostly bluegills, sunfish and perch.

The kids ate hot dogs, chips, pop and ice cream courtesy of Kwik Trip Inc., Marketplace Foods and West’s Hayward Dairy. In addition, the Hayward Lakes Chapter of Muskies Inc. and Walmart donated funds for the event. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources also was a sponsor. All of the children received a grab bag and a door prize. The winners of the fishing contest were:

Largest fish: First, Terek Marlow, 8, Hayward, 1-pound bluegill; second, Madeline Vobornik, 5, Hayward, 1-pound bluegill; third (tie), Brooke Laier, 3, and Jayden Vobornik, 6, both of Hayward, each with a 15-ounce bluegill.

Most fish: First, Tyson Marlow, 10, Hayward, 28 sunfish; second, Nick Northey, 10, Somerset, 20 sunfish; third, Taylor McDonald, 9, Hayward, six sunfish.

Sounds like a big hit again for the youngsters. Thanks to the National Fresh Water fishing Hall of Fame for sponsoring such worthwhile events such as this for our children.

Remember, when ever possible, take a kid fishing.
