Hello again everyone, this is Catch em Cathy from Aquatic Arts with your Friday Fishing minute update. After the storms moved through earlier this week, the fishing has improved tremendously. Topwater action has really been awesome out here on the area river systems and lakes. Pike have been hanging in the the thicker weedbeds during the day, so you need something to cast at them that won't get you snagged. Topwater frogs have been working great!! They come in a variety of colors and sizes. Daredevils Weedless spoons in red and white have been working great too! Largemouth Bass have been popping up to the surface after topwater baits as well. Fish aroung lily pad patches and weed beds 4-8ft of water. Great topwater Bass Baits include Storm Chug Bugs, Heddon Zara Spooks and Heddon Crazy Crawlers. These baits make popping noises on the surface which attracts the fish and draws them up to your lure. Smallmouth Bass seem to be preferring shallow running crankbaits and plastics. Yum Dinger worms hooked Wacky style, through the center of the worm, and Manns Baby 1 Minuses have been the ticket. Fish around weed edges, rock bars, and stump fields, 4-8ft of water. Large Bluegills continue to come into the shop this week for our Weekly Fish Contest, with the biggest measuring in at 101/2 inches. Gulp Alive waxies and maggots on a plain hook have been doing the trick. Fish in and around shallow weedbeds, 3-6ft of water. The Crappie bite has been slow yet this year, so don't get your h opes up if you are going out in search of some slabs. A few Crappies have been picked up around Fallen Trees and Submerged timber on Mr.Crappie Slab Daddys and Charlie Bees Spinners. Your best luck will be drifting these areas in search for a school of them. Well, thats all for today, this has been your fishing minute update with catch em cathy.
