Weather was up and down this week with some real nice days, a couple of windy days, one day with all day rain and thunder boomers and a more than a little heat.

The rain measured about 2.75" in Dick Moore's rain gauge and immediately brought the lake level up a few inches as well so that was a good thing.

Fishing was pretty darn good for the week in general. Walleyes were at varying depths from 10-25 feet, depending on who was fishing and where they were. It sounded like starting in 15 feet and working in and out was the ticket for a few boats this week. Miles Bay was hot for some of our guests while those that ventured out west towards to the Litte Traverse had spectacular fishing and more than one group put over 100 walleyes in their boats. Some really good size again this week with fish from 25-29 inches being caught and released. Jigs/minnows and spinners/minnows were again the best presentation. Although one group had a super hot day casting cranks to rocky shorelines. Fish were pulverising rapalas that were ticking off the rocks on the way back to the boat.

Another group (2 boats) went into Obabakon Lake after the rain brought the lake level up and had no issues coming or going. The northerns were snapping big time again as they caught fish after fish and said it was the best northern fishing they have had up there in 10 years. The biggest fish was 34-35 inches and they had their choice of 25-27 inchers to keep for a limit.

Not many people targeting smallies this week, but there was a real nice muskie caught on a spinner/crawler combination. Several other muskies were reported being hooked by walleye fisherman and a couple others were landed and released after munching on minnows or leeches.

The Memorial Weekend is upon us and is always our busiest weekend of the year. It also signals the unofficial start of summer and the start of the busy busy busy June, July and August periods.

There are still a few dates left available in June/July as a result of cancellations so you could still make a trip to Mylie's and LOTW if you can't stand just reading about the action.
