Most fishermen were limited in fishing time with the high winds over the weekend. The fishermen that caught the most fish were working crankbaits on the wind blown shorelines. Jig and minnows or Jig and leech combos also caught a number of fish but the size of the fish was reported to be smaller. As for color of crankbaits Firetiger, Gold, and Crawfish patterns seemed to be at the top of everyones list. The crappie and gill action is still good in the shallower areas of area lakes.

I made it out on the Phillips Chain Sunday afternoon after the store slowed down, I was throwing Rapalas and Smithwicks on wind blown shorelines. I caught walleyes from 12" to 16" and a couple of nice pike. Firetiger seemed to be the color of choice by the fish. It was pretty tough holding the boat but it was worth it every time I reached for the net.

We did pretty good considering the wind. Fished jig and minnow close to cover in 5-6' of water. All in all it was much better than being here at the office!!
