Here at Guides Choice many anglers came into the shop this morning asking where to catch fish today, ,,,,,,the opening day of fishing.

We always try to give the best information we can here at the shop.

The fish,,,,, walleyes, crappies, perch, and some northern pike were all shallow in 1 to 4 feet of water on most small lakes and the Eagle River Chain, which was biting well if you were in the right spots.

The fish are in the new weeds, a 1/16 oz. jig and minnow combo on 6 pound test line jigged in these weeds had the best action. If there was wind blowing into the spot, so much the better. The best catching was in the morning.

I want to thank those of you that returned in the afternoon to lst us know how well you did.

The reason most the anglers caught most of the fish in the morning before the winds got too hard to control their boats. I learned alone time ago that boat control is 95% of catching fish.

The fishing will only get better for the next few weeks, now is the time to enjoy great fishing here in northern Wisconsin.

Stay tuned for the latest hot fishing information as it occurs......
