Ice-Out Lake Trout should be starting in a couple more weeks. Ice on Kakagi (Crow) Lake is still near shore, but not very thick and unsafe to walk around on - even Girlie won't walk on it. I'm thinking April 24th is when we will have enough ice off and have a handful of cabins open and ready. We will have a couple cabins ready to go by this weekend, just in case the ice goes sooner.
Girlie has been wading on the beach and she keeps pulling out ice chunks and setting them on shore to melt. I'm glad to see her doing her part to get us open early. She's a great camp dog and she is very eager to start seeing our guests!
Caliper Lake should be clear of ice in a couple days. It was about 40% open yesterday. Caliper should be good for some Walleye which is still open until April 14 and locals say it is a great lake for big Pike early in the season.
