Some of you have gone....some of you have talked about going...and some of you...well you should just go!

The Madison, Capital City Chapter of Muskies Inc. is planning a trip to Famed Andy Myers Lodge on Eagle Lake in September

When?: September 4 – Sept 11 2010
Where?: Staying at Andy Meyers Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario, Canada
How much?: Herbie is cutting our group a GREAT deal! $589 per person! 100$ deposit is required ASAP to save your spot!
What’s this includes?: 6 day / 7 night accommodations, late model boats with new motors., all towels and linens, daily dock service, midweek maid service, use of boats and motors on 5 remote lakes at no charge, marked maps and seminars. Bring your own boat and enjoy free boat dockage and battery hook-up ALSO- Herbie is including 12 gallons of gas PER PERSON!!!

If you would like to include all meals or just the evening meals I have the prices for those as well. Herbies guides are also available but you should let me know right away so we can get deposit checks in and get them reserved!! They also have upgrades available on boats for a fee. Several folks went this route last year versus dragging up their own boat.

ALSO!!!!!!
As in years past, we will be doing a drawing on the first night (sat) to see who in the group is the lucky ones to fish with Herbie himself for an outing!!!

We are doing September 4 – Sept 11. This week is prime as its leading into the NEW MOON on Weds Sept 8! That is smack in the middle of the week. The old saying great fishing two days before and two days after…well we are there for all that!

This is prime time as the large females slide shallow with the cooling waters..this time of the year is when we run into some VERY large clean, open water fish in the shallows..and with the moon influence this week there typically is some very strong feeding widows!

Not only does Herbies crew work to put folks on fish, but there will be sharing of information and map marking for those of you who will be new to eagle lake. This trip is about learning and sharing....just ask and all the help will be there for you!!

***** NOTE: You do not need to be a capital City Chapter member to go on the trip!!!!

call me @ 608-213-7747 if you have questions!

Well we had 8 guys this year (tough economy kept our numbers down) make the trip to Andy Myers Lodge for our annual outing. We had some newer folks to muskie fishing and first timers to eagle with us this year which is always a challenge for newbies. We had some tough conditions over all with the lake turning over during our stay and losing about 8 degrees in water temps for the week. Despite the tough conditions our group did well in my opinion given the skill levels/experience and conditions. We put 14 muskies in the boat with a 49 and 50 being the two biggest. Actually the fiddy Jon caught was the only fiddy caught in camp all week!!! That’s when you know it’s a tough week at Herbies….Although there were some big fish lost as usual.

Different patterns put fish in the boat for folks….giving the dropping temps slow moving stuff like dawgs and slow working cranks caught fish. BUT, the suprise was the burning of bucktails moved a LOT more fish then you would expect given the conditions. Boat side maneuvers again made the difference between fish in the net or stories. Suckers were really working for the guides that used them.

Was nice this year that the fish in the Vermillion Bay area were the hot fish...east was dead...south and west were slow. So didn't have to travel far at all! Both the 49 and 50 were caught in the bay!

One nice treat for the week was Pete Maina was in camp filming for the next bite. His special guest was Rickey Medlocke, lead guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd. Rickey and Pete hung out in the evenings sharing stories etc. Some of Rickey’s stores about Def Leppard, AC DC and other topics were quite entertaining! Rickey got a 48 incher the first day they were filming plus ended up with 4 on film for the show. Should be a good one so check it out on VS this Jan sometime!

Special thanks for Herbie and his staff as they again did a great job hosting us!

Sad news was jiggers gas station on the corner in V bay caught fire last monday when we were up...this will really hurt the V Bay area.

Join us next year if your interested as Herbie gives us a great deal and is always a fun trip!
