Here is the stocking of 5,925 walleyes, average size of 6-9", that the lake assoc. got permit from the DNR for their release. This is after the DNR fall shocking survey that showed there was ZERO Young Of Year. What they look for is 3-4" Y.O.Y. that hatched back in May. In other words, there was no hatch from this years spawning ritual, most likely due to the fact that the temps were not conducive for their natural hatch and growth, along with the natural predation from the other inhabitants of the lake. Hopefully this will not be the situation in the future, with mother natures cooperation. As an info reminder, when a walleye gets to be 22" or larger, 97% of the time it is a female - the spawning future!

Forgot to post this photo of a nice smallmouth caught by Brad Homer on Sept. 29th. Smallies are not a very common fish on Lac Vieux Desert so this is that much more exciting. Congrats Brad. Now we're waiting for the hard water season to begin.
