View Full Version : The Bite has slowed down

The musky bite is a not very consistant at this time. The nice warm sunny days seem to have slowed the fish down. Additionally the rapid drop in water temperatures seems to have misplaced the fish. We have very green weeds on most of the lakes at this time, yet water temperatures are in the low forties. The Eagle Chain, Three Lakes Chain, Kentuck and such lakes are 43 to 46 degrees. Lac Vieux Desert is 41- 42 degrees. North and South Twin are the warmest at this time.

Some of the fish are deep yet some are still hanging near the green weeds. The sucker bite is not as strong as it should be either. Many anglers are reporting muskies just looking at the suckers and swimming away. One angler while fishing deep water reported watching a musky on his depth finder swim up and look at his sucker 3 times but not bite. The sucker was hanging down 20 feet in 50 feet of water. So he put on a Fuzzy Duzzit and jigged it and the 41 incher hit it.

The weather is supposed to be in the 40's for the next 7 days with a low pressure coming in. This might get the bite going. We'll be out there trying for the big one.

Good Luck and we'll see some of you up north.

Hey Rick, Tried e-mailing via Guideschoice, don't think it worked. Coming up next week, starting the 24th. Wanted to find out what to expect when we come in for suckers. Also hoping local bussiness' haven't been hurt too bad by the economy. Is the restaurant open? Also thinking of taking in a show down on 45, hope they are open as well. Thanx for any info, ED ( C U next week )
