Fall is coming as trees are begining to turn color here, great fall fishing is on it's way. Yesterday I had some real nice folks from Racine Wisconsin in the boat, we fished the Chippewa Flowage near Hayward. In the morning we fished two spots, an area filled with stumps and sunken logs and an area with shallow weeds. On the woody spot we caught a nice number of hard fighting smallmouth bass but only one walleye. In the weeds we again caught some smallmouth, a couple of largemouth bass and again only one walleye. After lunch at a resort we fished three spots without a bite, the fish were really shut down. The evening fish fry they promised their wives was the serious trouble! On the last spot of the day we made a bit of a come back as we managed to boat another walleye, a crappie, three bass and a pike. All's well that ends well!
Musky fishings been good recently as we've boated a couple nice fish in past few days, a 37" and a 40" both on bucktails.
Good luck and good fishing,
Jim Stroede
