Most of the muskie action thus far has taken place in and around where the cabbage is coming up. There have been some nice fish caught this year by our guests already, including a 54" and 49" fish the first couple of days of the season. We're hoping to get photos of both of those fish by the end of the week.

No real pattern on the types of baits that are working. Small crank baits (6" jake, small Crane) have produced a couple of the nicer fish, but the bigger baits have been bringing some nice sized fish to the boat as well.

If you can find some cabbage, it won't be real thick so you'll have the chance to throw just about whatever you want at it and be able to keep the lure from fouling up.

Before the season officially opened last week, a guide was raising muskies everywhere he fished for northerns. The key seemed to be a bit slower retrieve as the guests in his boat that were burning their baits back to the boat weren't getting any northern strikes or muskie follows.
